Watch: 14-year-old Cavan Sullivan torches defender in Philadelphia Union’s 5-1 victory

United States phenom Cavan Sullivan made his second-ever Major League Soccer appearance for the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday and wowed fans with a clever dribble.

Sullivan will turn 15 on Sept. 28 but is still racking up the accolades and highlights as a 14-year-old. During Wednesday’s game against New York City FC the youngster showed off his pace as he outran a defender and drew a yellow card.

Kevin O’Toole, the man booked for the foul, will now have to live the rest of his life knowing he got outsprinted by a 14-year-old.

In O’Toole’s defense he had just played a full 90 minutes while Sullivan’s legs were fresh.

Sullivan is one of the most exciting young prospects for the U.S. as he’s already signed a deal to join Manchester City when he turns 18. That won’t be until 2027.

When he made his MLS debut in July he set the record as the youngest professional athlete in any U.S. major league (MLS, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL and NWSL).

Sullivan’s two MLS appearances have both come with the Union leading with a four-goal margin.

Meanwhile in MLS NEXT PRO, the youngster has three goals and three assists in 15 appearances this season.
