No One, Not Even Manchester City, Can Stop Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic only made his debut for Borussia Dortmund back in January 2016. Since then, we’ve learned that the 17-year-old is an absolute gem of a player. In seven months time he became the youngest player to score two goals in the Bundesliga, made his USMNT debut in March, scored against Bolivia and represented the USA three times at the Copa America Centenario.

Dortmund rewarded Pulisic with a two-year contract this summer, and the Hershey, Pennsylvania native immediately awarded his employers with this International Champions Cup goal against Champions League semi-finalists Manchester City.

Okay, so the shot was so perplexingly bad that it fooled the keeper. Whatever. He still went five-hole on Angus Gunn and scored his penalty in the resulting shoot-out. Also, did we mention he’s only 17 years old

On top of it all, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. When asked by German newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten about playing at the Copa, Pulisic responded: “My family and friends were there and watched me play — an unforgettable experience. It was a great feeling for me to play in front of so many of my fellow countrymen.”

What an American hero! When asked about his own achievements and progress, Pulisic replied: “My teammates and coaches have supported me well and made it easy for me. Everyone had my back in Dortmund as well as in the national team.

“I have gained a lot of confidence and feel ready for the next season.”

Pulisic hasn’t even had a full year as a senior professional, but he seems absolutely unfazed by everything that’s come his way — he's only committed to achieving more for club and country.

With his sponge-like approach to learning the game, it’s great to know that he’ll be learning from the likes of Mario Gotze, Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle and Shinji Kagawa for the next year.
