Megan Rapinoe’s final regular season NWSL home game set viewership and attendance records

Megan Rapinoe might have played her final home game for the OL Reign on Friday, and the numbers are in. The people showed out in person and tuning in.

Friday’s 0-0 draw between the OL Reign and the Washington Spirit had 683,000 viewers which set the record for a regular season NWSL game. Inside Lumen Field the all-time NWSL attendance record was set with 34,130 fans.

Megan Rapinoe’s last home game breaks records

Rapinoe is set to retire at the end of the 2023 NWSL season and has already played her final game with the U.S. women’s national team.

The OL Reign are on the cusp of making the playoffs with just one regular season game left to go. Sunday will be mayhem in the NWSL league table for decision day as only two teams have already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.

Just three points separates third-place N.C. Courage and 9th-place Racing Louisville. Only the top six make playoffs.

Rapinoe’s side will travel to Chicago to face the last-place Red Stars who are already eliminated from playoff contention for what could be her last game.

Sunday’s results will determine if Rapinoe’s career ends there or if it will go into metaphorical extra time with the 2023 playoffs.
