It Shouldn’t Get Worse Than One Player Punching Another. It Did For South Korea.

South Korea’s and Uzbekistan’s U22 teams faced off this weekend, and after watching the highlights, we are surprised that someone’s face literally didn’t get torn off.

Remember when Nigel de Jong almost sent his foot through Xabi Alonso’s chest in the 2010 World Cup Final? Well, Uzbekistan’s U22 team makes that look like a teasing poke to the sternum.

Two red cards were handed out, but there arguably should have been three. The foul at 0:51 was cynical at best. It completely clears out the opposing player’s legs, and could have resulted in serious injury.

The other two red cards were handed out for two of the most blatantly violent acts we have ever seen on a soccer pitch. That flying kick? All three of those blows to the head? Some one needs to tell Uzbekistan that this is soccer, not some new edition of Monday Night Raw.

The game would end 1-0 in favor of Korea, and no that’s not the body count. Although from how that guy was stretchered off, we wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking so.
