Hope Solo Calls An Early End To Her Club Season, Reportedly Considering Retirement

Hope Solo’s six-month ban from the USWNT, and the termination of her contract with the national team, has resulted in the decorated goalkeeper releasing another statement with regards to her status with the Seattle Reign, her NWSL club side.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my season with the Seattle Reign, an organization I love playing for. Mentally, I am not there yet,” reads the statement.

Followers of the saga between Solo the U.S. Soccer Federation were given a closer look at Solo’s reaction to the federation’s decision after a teaser video was released for an upcoming documentary showing Solo’s emotional response to the news.

According to Sounder At Heart, Solo and her husband Jerramy Stevens are potentially moving from Seattle to North Carolina. At 35, and with no professional women’s team in North Carolina, that would effectively confirm an acrimonious end to Solo’s professional career.

Solo has played professionally in Seattle since 2012, and she’s collected over 200 caps for the USWNT dating back to 2000.
