Diego Costa Could Be Back With A New Club After 8-Month Hiatus

The soccer world has been without its greatest villain, or hero depending on if he’s on your team. A new Diego Costa transfer could be announced soon and the 32-year-old plans on taking his talents to Brazil with Atlético Minerio.

Here are some questions you may have surrounding Costa’s move to Atlético Minerio.

When Did Diego Costa Last Play?

The last time Costa played in a game was Dec. 22 when he played for three minutes against Real Sociedad.

Why Did He Leave Atletico Madrid?

The official reason for Diego Costa ending his contract with Atleti six months early was “personal reasons.” The club and Costa mutually agreed to part ways in Dec. 2020, and many thought he would find a new club in the winter transfer window.

His final season in Madrid was plagued with injuries, but he still managed to score two goals in seven appearances.

Will The Brazil Fans Hate Him?

Probably.

Costa made an infamous decision in 2013 to switch his nationality from Brazilian to Spanish. One year out from the Brazil World Cup, arguably the best Brazilian striker left his country to play for the defending World Cup champions. Costa didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome in 2014.

Eight years have passed since Costa’s international allegiance switch. Perhaps he won’t be booed quite as loud when he joins Atlético Minerio.

How Can I Watch Diego Costa?

Brazil’s top flight can be watched on Paramount+ this season. Atlético Mineiro is looking to win its first league title since 1971 and is top of the table after 15 matches played.

If you choose to watch Atlético Minerio then you could be blessed with seeing the best kits on the planet.
