Agustín Canapino unveils Argentina-inspired livery for Indy 500

Juncos Hollinger Racing and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced Wednesday that driver Agustín Canapino will contest this month’s Indianapolis 500 with a livery celebrating La Albiceleste's recent World Cup triumph. Soccer and motorsports often find ways to mingle and this latest collaboration may be one of the best yet.

The Argentine driver’s car will be adorned with the iconic white and light blue stripes of the national team as well as the team’s badge on the nose and three gold stars on the sidepod. Eagle-eyed viewers will also spot that Canapino’s number 78 will be in the same font as the national team.

It should be noted that this partnership is much more than another stop on Argentina’s victory parade. This is part of a calculated and meticulous expansion into North America for the World Champions. Recently, the federation announced it will be creating a high-performance center in Miami, Florida. According to The Athletic, the facility “will soon break ground” and “serve as the entity’s U.S. headquarters and establish the federation’s footprint Stateside”

The livery will be used for the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 which will be contested on May 28, so make sure to tune in to NBC’s coverage to see if Canapino can be the Lionel Messi of Juncos Hollinger racing and take his blue and white machine to victory at the “Brickyard.”
