The Seattle Sounders scored three goals in their match against Dallas, but two of them were in their own net, proving you don't always have to score goals to win games.
Seattle traveled to Dallas wanting to bounce back after a tough 3-2 loss against Sporting Kansas City the week before. To their credit, they scored three goals during the 90 minutes! But two of those goals ended up in their own net. The scoreline ended 2-1 in Dallas' favor.
The first goal was a diving header from Seattle's recent signing Xavier Arreaga. Taken out of context, that is a pretty nice finish by the center back.

The second goal came from left back Brad Smith, who is with the team on loan from English side Bournemouth. Though he is an attacking threat, this ironically is the only goal Smith has scored in Rave Green.

Raul Ruidiaz did give Seattle a goal that actually counted for the Sounders, coming in the form of a weird deflection off Dallas center back Matt Hedges. But by the end of the match, fans could only laugh at how things played out.
This wasn't the first time something like this happened and it definitely won't be the last. In 2003, Sunderland scored three own goals in a span of seven minutes in the first half to eventually lose to Charlton 3-1.
It is pretty convenient when the other side does scoring for you. All you have to do is defend!
Another example of this is AS Adema's 149-0 victory over SO I'Emyrne in October of 2002. But where the first two examples were unintentional own goals, SOE scored 149 own goals in protest over a contraversial referee decision that cost them a spot in Madagascar league's playoff final.
