Barcelona claimed the 2018 LaLiga title with a 4-2 win over Deportivo on Sunday, April 29. It was the Blaugrana’s 25th LaLiga crown, trailing only Real Madrid, which has a record 33 LaLiga titles.
Barcelona clinched the title with 26 wins and 8 draws in its first 34 matches. With four matches left, Lionel Messi and company could finish the season without a loss, something no team has done in nearly a century.
No LaLiga club has ever gone undefeated in a 38-match season. The closest any team has come was a single loss, accomplished by Real Madrid in 1989 and Barcelona in 2010.
You have to go back to 1932 for the last time a LaLiga team went through a campaign without a loss. That year, Real Madrid completed the 18-match season with 10 wins and 8 draws. Two years earlier, Athletic Bilbao had 12 wins, 6 draws and no losses.
