You couldn’t write a script like this. The Christian Eriksen goal vs Slovenia during Denmark’s opening Euro game on Sunday was the stuff out of movies.

Three years ago, Eriksen was fighting for his life after collapsing on the field during Denmark’s opening game of Euro 2020. The soccer world was in shock as Eriksen was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the incredible and quick medical staff who saved his life.

Netflix has been killing it already this year with a collection of celebrated sports shows that take you behind-the-scenes to a degree that few other projects have ever been able to. Much of that stems from the success of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, which has given birth to an entire generation of American F1 fans as the docuseries releases its fifth season.

The lasting memories of World Cups should be the celebrations of football — the glorious goals, the mesmerizing skills, the feel-good stories. But we also know that there's no joy without suffering and no winners without losers, and sometimes, it's those dramatic failures that really resonate because life's a snitch and then you die. 

Some of this is completely unfair to players who've given us so much over the years and to young guys who've got a lot of ball left to play, but these are the 10 individuals who really let me down in Qatar.
