Potential new players can be scouted from all over the country at various events.
Some of these events can include semi pro & pro leagues, youth club & league matches, olympic development programs, and USSF & youth national team events.
The scouted players are then evaluated by USMNT technical staff during events such as training camps, friendlies and official matches.
Once chosen, players are notified at least 15 days in advance of a camp or match. The final roster is then selected 1 week before the match.
In a World Cup year, a 30-man roster is submitted one month before the competition. It is then trimmed to a final 23-man squad two weeks before the World Cup.
