18-Year-Old Makes Top-Flight Debut With Ludicrous 93rd-Minute Bicycle Kick Winner

It’s been a good week for Hungary. On Thursday, the country was included in the landmark strategy game series Civilization the first time. On Saturday, an 18-year-old kid reminded the world they can still play some football in Hungary.

Hungary, a two-time World Cup runner-up, hasn’t been relevant on a world stage since the 1960s. But let’s not dwell on the past. Instead, let’s focus on the future, namely Dániel Zsóri, a teenager who made his top-flight debut on Saturday.

Zsóri is a forward for Debrecen, having made his way through the youth ranks with the club. Debrecen welcomed league-leading and reigning champion Ferencváros to its Nagyerdei Stadion on Saturday but fell behind in the 29th minute.

Debrecen equalized with a penalty kick by Dániel Tözsér in the 83rd minute. Moments later, Dániel Zsóri was brought on for the home side.

Zsóri, who scored 39 goals with the club's second team and idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo, one-upped the legendary Portuguese striker.

In the 93rd minute, Zsóri won the match with a stunning bicycle kick, doing what most kids only dream of doing when they start playing.

Most 18-year-olds can’t even do that in FIFA, let alone a top-flight match.

Despite the comeback victory, Debrecen still trails Ferencváros by nine points atop the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (Hungarian top division).

We can’t wait to see what else Dániel Zsóri has in store for his career.
