Tim Weah Had A Great Moment Of Sportsmanship vs. Honduras That Needs To Be Highlighted

The United States men’s national team picked up a vital three points in the frigid Minnesota cold vs. Honduras on Wednesday courtesy of goals from Weston McKennie, Walker Zimmerman and Christian Pulisic.

Tim Weah had several chances in front of goal but couldn’t find the net. His best moment of the game came in the 59th minute when he kicked the ball out of bounds.

With the USMNT leading 2-0, Jordan Morris blasted a shot from 20 yards out that Honduras goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar parried into the path of Weah. The American’s attempt to center the ball hit Menjívar directly in the head.

The referee didn’t stop play for the injury, and what Weah did next was all class.

Tim Weah Sportsmanship

Weah had a tough night in front of goal, but this moment of sportsmanship was his best of the night. He earned some kudos from the Twitter-sphere.

USA vs. Honduras Highlights

The Americans got the jitters out from that disappointing defeat to Canada eight minutes into the game with a brilliant Weston McKennie header. This was the USMNT’s first goal from a set piece during World Cup qualifying.

Kellyn Acosta found Weah in behind the defense and nearly doubled the lead for the USMNT.

Acosta was providing gems from set-piece opportunities and did it again in the 37th minute for the second goal.

Weah had another chance in front of goal in the 50th minute after some incredible link-up play with McKennie.

The third goal came from Captain America off the bench in 67th minute. Once again it was from a set piece.

The result keeps the USMNT in second place on the Concacaf World Cup qualifying table as a trip to Qatar becomes more of a reality.
