Roma And Juventus Meet In A Serie A Clash Of Titans

This Sunday great emotions will return to Serie A, a league that is trying to recover its world-class status after being displaced by La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League. Roma host Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

Juventus has won the last four Serie A titles (Scudettos), and lost to Barcelona in the Champions League final last June.

Unfortunately for Juventus, this summer they lost Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez.

To fill those missed players the Turin team signed Mario Mandzukic, formerly of Atletico Madrid, who will be one of the key footballers for offensive.

Even though Juventus had Mandzukic in the starting XI last week, they lost (0-1) against Udinese.

Other new members include Brazilian defender Alex Sandro and Colombian midfielder Juan Cuadrado, who could debut Sunday.

In addition, Spanish striker Alvaro Morata could return to Juventus’s list of available players this Sunday after nearly a month out injured.

Meanwhile, Rome will depend on a completely revamped front-line with Iago Falque, Mohammed Salah and Edin Dzeko.

Still-unknown Frenchman Rudi García has been Roma’s manager since 2013 but this game can define his future, because Roma closed the 2014/15 season badly and began this season with a draw against Hellas Verona.

There are rumors of a coaching change. The French coach had his great moment in the 2010/11 season with Lille in France and was praised when The Giallorossi, as Roma is known, improved its performance after being unsuccessfully commanded by the Luis Enrique.

Francesco Totti & Co. have worked on possession of the ball and tactics all week long. Roma will be at home and so they must be aggressive, especially with a three-man forward line.

Nicola Rizzoli will referee this mouth-watering clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

This is a marquee matchup, in just the second week, but both teams are obliged to get some points to avoid losing ground in Serie A.

Emotionally this match could be all over the place because in two weeks both teams will have to begin challenging trials in the Champions League. Juventus will face Manchester City and Roma will play Barcelona.
