Robert Lewandowski receives three-match ban after insinuating LaLiga referee was "on drugs"

Things are not looking good for Robert Lewandowski and FC Barcelona after the World Cup.

Lewandowski was sent-off for Barcelona when they visited Osasuna in the last game before the international break.

A double-booking saw the Polish star leave the game in the 30th minute after he made a reckless tackle on Osasuna’s David García.

This was the second time the striker has been sent off in his career, but it’ll be the first time he’s suspended for more than one game.

“Ref is on drugs” gesture earns Lewandowski a three-game ban

After making his way off the pitch and down the tunnel, a frustrated and furious Lewandowski ran his finger under his nose and pointed at referee Jesús Gil.

Although it was said that his gesture had another meaning and that it was directed at Barcelona manager Xavi, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) thought otherwise.

After further review from the RFEF, the 34-year-old will serve a one-game ban for his double-booking and an extra two games for his attitude against the officials.

The striker will miss league games against Espanyol and Atlético Madrid and the Super Cup semi-final against Real Betis.

Barcelona have announced that they will put their case to the Appeals Committee hoping that the Polish can serve a lighter suspension.
