One Manchester United Star Wants Chicharito Back

Manchester United have been having problems at striker, with their only three options being possibly-over-the-hill Wayne Rooney, midfielder Marouane Felaini and 18-year-old Anthony Martial. That's why it seemed to many an unwise decision when they sold 27-year-old Mexican striker Chicharito Hernandez to Bayer Leverkusen during the transfer window.

Hernandez has been on fire for Leverkusen, scoring eight goals in his last six games, propmting one prominent Manchester United player, goalkeeper David de Gea, to question the decision to sell Chicharito.

"These are decisions for the coach," De Gea told ESPN Deportes.

“But in my team he (Chicharito) would always play. He was an undisputed starter before and player of the year at United. He can get you 20, 30 goals a season. I would like a lot to play with him again, hopefully it can happen.”

De Gea said he still keeps in touch with his former (and possibly future?) teammate.

“He is a very good friend, we last spoke two or three days ago,” said De Gea.

“We are in touch a lot. He does well in whatever team he is at. He has scored eight or nine goals in very few games. The truth is he is doing well at Leverkusen and everyone knows Chicharito is a goal scorer.”

Earlier this season, in a Q&A with TEAMtalk, De Gea said Chicharito was the best finisher he had played with.

We sense a Bromance coming on.
