German Guy Says Germany Will Win World Cup, If Germany Has Anything To Do With It

It turns out Trump was right. You can get sick of winning. Germany winning, that is. Especially when German guy Lothar Matthäus starts rubbing it in.

Before you get your undies in a bunch and start telling us that "Lothar Matthäus isn't just some 'German guy,'" and that he may or may not be the greatest German player in history, let us cut you off. We know. We know he played in five World Cups. We know he's the most capped player in German history. We have the internets.

See, here's proof: a picture of Lothar Matthäus winning the World Cup. Or, at least, carrying it. Maybe he was about to hand it to the actual winner. He does look kind of sad.

Germany Will Win World Cup In 2018? Lothar Matthäus Thinks So.

This is all just to say, we know Lothar Matthäus is not "just some German guy."

But then again he is a German guy. Telling us Germany will win the next World Cup, right after Germany won the Confederations Cup and the European Under-21 Championship. He then delivers the news as if he's put a lot of thought into his analysis.

Of course Germany might win the next World Cup. They've won every qualifier they've played so far in the lead-up to the 2018 World Cup. They currently sit atop UEFA Group C with 18 points. A prediction that they might win the 2018 World Cup reads like last month's issue of "No Shit, Nostradamus."

Our favorite moment from the FS1 postmortem comes when studio host Fernando Fiore, of Argentina, congratulates Lothar on Germany's win, and Lothar gets so excited he forgets how to spell Argentina.

Really, this all makes for top-notch television. To recap what we know after watching the video segments above:

1) South American and European teams are awesome

2) Germany is probably going to win (according to Germany)

3) Chilean players cried because they lost (and maybe because they aren't Brazil or Argentina)

4) Lothar hasn't learned how to spell Argentina, because who cares

We can only hope the TV commentary in Russia in 2018 is as groundbreaking as it is in 2017.
