Lionel Messi delivered yet another masterclass on Saturday night, scoring both goals in Inter Miami’s 2-1 home win against Nashville SC at Chase Stadium.

The 38-year-old opened the scoring with a brilliantly executed free kick, his 69th career strike from a dead ball, slipping it low through the wall and into the bottom corner. With that, Messi is now just nine goals shy of the all-time record for free kicks scored.

But Messi wasn’t done. Just 13 minutes later, he pounced on a mistake by Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis, calmly dribbling around him before slotting home his second of the night.

The brace marked Messi’s fifth consecutive two-goal game in Major League Soccer, extending the personal record he set earlier in the week against the New England Revolution.
The win lifts Inter Miami to fifth in the Eastern Conference with 38 points from 19 matches, trailing first-place Philadelphia by just five points with three games in hand following their participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
