Sanity Wins — Cindy Parlow Cone Re-Elected As U.S. Soccer President Defeating Carlos Cordeiro

U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) president Cindy Parlow Cone was re-elected for another four-year term after beating former president Carlos Cordeiro in a vote on Saturday.

Parlow Cone won 785.12 of the total weighted vote at the Annual General Meeting while Cordeiro won 698.26.

Cordeiro resigned under pressure two years ago after a legal filing that was widely condemned as misogynistic and was succeeded in the position by Parlow Cone, a former national team player who was U.S. Soccer's vice president at the time.

"From the bottom of my heart thank you all for this amazing show of support," Parlow Cone, 43, said. "To all of you who supported me and all of you who supported my opponent, I say the same thing: the moment of division is now in the past.

"We are one federation, we are one team. I promise to be the leader for all of U.S. soccer. I have never been more excited and more hopeful about the future of our beautiful game.

"Our national teams are young, exciting and full of promise. Our professional leagues are at the vanguard of driving our sport forward."

The U.S., Canada and Mexico will host the men's World Cup in 2026, while the Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

The U.S. may also bid to host the women's World Cup in 2027 or 2031.

"We are soon to host at least one World Cup and show the world what we have to offer," Parlow Cone added.

"Our moment is now and I promise you that each and everyone of you have a friend and a partner in me as president of U.S. Soccer."
