VfL Bochum Morphs Into Prime 2015 Barça For 7 Minutes To Destroy Bayern With Unreal Goals

VfL Bochum returned to the Bundesliga for the first time in 12 years this season after earning promotion from the 2. Bundesliga. The club recorded a famous 4-2 victory on Saturday against Bayern Munich with all four goals coming in the first half.

Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern the lead nine minutes into the game after some great play from the Bavarian giants. The lead would only last five minutes as a clinical Bochum counterattack got the hosts level.

Bochum then shocked the Bundesliga leaders in the 38th minute after converting a penalty to take the lead.

What happened in the next seven minutes can only be described as magical.

In the 40th minute Bochum had one of the most sensational bits of play to score the team’s third goal. You can’t tell me that this doesn’t look like Barcelona in its prime seven years ago.

With Bayern still in a state of confusion from that brilliant Bochum ball, the underdogs piled on a fourth with a long-range strike. What a goal from Gerrit Holtmann.

Bayern tried to fight back in the second half but couldn’t break through Bochum’s defense until Lewandowski scored a volley in the 75th minute. The goal made for a somewhat nervy last 15 minutes.

The Bochum fans in attendance probably had their hearts drop to their stomachs when Lewandowski lined up for a free kick in the 86th minute and rattled the crossbar.

Bochum survived the scare to record its first victory against Bayern in 18 years. The victory sees the newly promoted side move up to 11th in the table.

With Bayern dropping points this could be just what the Bundesliga needed to spice up the title race.
