Bastian Schweinsteiger Hammers One From Over 30 Yards Out

Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the seventh goal of his MLS career last night (his fourth of the 2018 season), and it was undoubtedly the best strike of his Chicago Fire tenure. Chicago was trailing 1-0 in the 48th minute after Damir Kreilach had given Real Salt Lake the advantage, but Schweinsteiger quieted the 19,817 inside Rio Tinto Stadium with this sensational long-range bomb.

You can't hit a ball any sweeter than that.

However, Kreilach would add a second in the 75th minute and the Fire would ultimately lose 2-1. Schweinsteiger also received his fourth booking of the season for dissent during second half stoppage time.

The table doesn’t make for great reading for Schweinsteiger’s boys: the Fire are next to last in the Eastern Conference with only 23 points from 24 matches. Chicago’s six points behind New England for the final playoff spot in the East with only 10 regular season matches remaining.
