Andre Silva Maintains Red-Hot Form As Frankfurts End Season With Win

AC Milan loanee Andre Silva scored against Paderborn on Saturday to help Frankfurt to a 3-2 victory over the last-placed side.

The 24-year-old Portuguese international has been in outstanding form for Frankfurt in recent weeks. Since the Bundesliga returned from the pandemic-enforced break, Silva has scored eight goals in 10 games. He had been enjoying a purple patch before the shutdown as well, scoring twice and providing an assist in the two-legged Europa League tie against RB Salzburg and scoring in the cup against Werder Bremen.

Halfway through his two-year loan deal in Germany, Silva has established himself as a crucial player for Die Adler. He finished the campaign as the team's highest scorer, both in the Bundesliga and overall, with 16 in 36 appearances.

On the same day Silva joined Eintracht on loan, the German side sent Ante Rebic in the other direction to join Milan. Both players are currently signed to two-year loan deals but with the deal working out well for both sides so far, a straight swap between the two could be likely.

After initially struggling in Italy, Rebic has become vital for Milan since the turn of the year, scoring seven goals since the Christmas break. A report from Italy claims Milan would seek a swap as it would allow them to avoid shelling out cash to keep Rebic and also prevent a loss on Andre Silva on the balance sheet.

Silva has previously claimed when asked if he could see himself staying in the Bundesliga after his loan deal ends, saying: "Yes, of course, because I love playing here. I feel good playing here. ... I think it'll be easier for me if I stay, for example, two years in the same league."

Having played already in four different countries, an extended spell at Frankfurt, where he is highly valued by the manager and a crucial member of the team, could allow Silva to find consistency and the acclaim that he first garnered when he took Europe by storm as a youngster at Porto.
