Americans In The Bundesliga: Round-up

It's no secret that with Jurgen Klinsmann at the helm of the U.S. Men's National Team, we're likely to see an influx of German-American athletes into U.S. Soccer. After all, if we can recruit talent like Julian Green to the United States, we're not complaining.

Since it's a long time until World Cup 2018 - and because many of the German-Americans who will play for the USMNT in Russia play their professional soccer overseas - we're introducing a regular round-up of action in the Bundesliga, with a focus on American players.

Matches Featuring Americans:

Hannover 96 2, Hamburg SV 0: Julian Green made his Hamburg SV debut in the loss. He started, which made the game his first professional league start, but was pulled at halftime after not making himself much of a factor. He sent a cross that was headed just wide and had a shot blocked and that was about it.

Mainz 3, Hertha Berlin 1: John Anthony Brooks started for Hertha, and had three shots, one of them on goal.

FC Augsberg 1, Eintracht Franfurt 0: Timmy Chandler didn’t play a minute for Frankfurt. We bet he cheered really hard though.

Borussia Monchengladbach 4, Schalke 04 1: Fabian Johnson started and played the whole game for Monchengladbach. He started on the left wing but switched to right back because of an injury.

Other Matches:

Bayern Munich 2, VfB Stuttgart 0

Borussia Dortmund 3, SC Freiburg 1

SC Paderborn 07 0, FC Cologne 0

TSG Hoffenheim 1, VfL Wolfsburg 1

Bayer Leverkusen 3 Werder Bremen 3
