Ali Krieger announces she’s coming back and will represent the U.S. Women in TST (7v7 tournament)

United States women’s national team legend Ali Krieger is returning to the field and will play for the U.S. Women’s team in TST (The Soccer Tournament) this summer.

Krieger, who retired after winning the NWSL Championship with Gotham FC last season, is dusting off her boots for one last dance.

TST had its inaugural 7-on-7 competition last year and was a smashing success drawing in tons of fans for the $1 million tournament.

One of the most popular teams last year was the U.S. Women led by USWNT legend Heather O’Reilly. In the 2024 edition she’ll be reunited with former national team teammate Krieger.

“I’m so excited Heather O’Reilly is putting a team together,” Krieger said on ESPN. “I told her I’m only signing up if we win. I’m actually starting training here soon, so I don’t injure myself.”

This year TST will have two separate tournaments splitting up the men and the women. The U.S. Women faced men’s teams last year which was rather one-sided with the U.S. Women being outscored 24-1 across three games including a 12-0 loss to the Wrexham Red Dragons.

The U.S. Women will be one of eight teams in the women’s tournament competing for the $1 million prize. Other women’s teams already announced for TST 2024 include:

  • SoccerHead FC (Former college and pro players led by former Duke star Gilda Doria)
  • N.C. Courage
  • StreetBall FC (A Canadian side led by bronze medalist Lauren Sesselmann)
  • Tampa Bay Sun FC (Future USL Super League team led by Brazilian legend Formiga)

TST will be played in Cary, North Carolina, from June 5-10.
