Saudi Arabia’s ‘Msdossary’ Wins $250K As FIFA eWorld Cup Winner

Mosaad Aldossary, the Saud Arabian better known as “Msdossary,” is the world’s best FIFA 18 player. Better yet, after a 4-0 aggregate victory in the grand final, Msdossary is taking home a quarter of a million dollars in FIFA eWorld Cup prize money.

Msdossary defeated Stefano Pinna (who goes by the unoriginal avatar of “StefanoPinna”) 2-0 in each leg of the final. Msdossary was the Xbox One champion while StefanoPinna won the PlayStation 4 division.

The grand final of the FIFA eWorld Cup — previously known as the FIFA Interactive World Cup — was held in London this week, with FIFA 18’s 32 best players competing at the O2 Arena. The FIFA eWorld Cup prize money for the champion was the most in the history of the tournament at $250,000.

Msdossary went 6-1 in group play, the only loss coming to 2017 FIWC winner “Gorilla” (Spencer Ealing). Last year Gorilla received $200,000 in prize money.

Msdossary won his Xbox quarterfinal 5-1, semifinal 9-4 and final 8-3 before beating StefanoPinna in the grand final. Stefano Pinna takes home $50,000 in FIFA eWorld Cup prize money.

Msdossary isn’t the first Saudi Arabian to win the top prize in soccer eSports. In 2015 Abdulaziz Alshehri claimed the FIWC crown. It comes on the heels of a decent showing for Saudi Arabia at the 2018 World Cup, where the Green Falcons scored their first World Cup win since 1994.

The U.S. has yet to have a FIFA eWorld Cup winner, though Michael Ribeiro finished runner-up in 2008. Maybe that’s why the U.S. didn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

In addition to the FIFA eWorld Cup prize money, Msdossary will also get a ticket to the FIFA Best Awards on September 24 back in London. While it's not quite Dota 2 money, that's not a bad haul.
