Harry Kane Hits Contender For Goal Of The Season And Gareth Bale Scores Twice

Harry Kane scored two and assisted two, Gareth Bale got a brace of his own and Son Heung-min provided one assist as Tottenham’s in-form front three fueled a 4-1 hammering of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

It was a complete performance from Spurs, who opened the scoring in the 25th minute after Lucas Moura poked it off Luka Milivojević and into the path of Kane. The English striker advanced towards goal before squaring to Bale for the tap-in.

Tottenham’s only blemish of the afternoon came just before halftime when Milivojević briefly made amends by hanging up a cross for Christian Benteke to attack.

But Spurs restored its advantage four minutes after the break when Bale switched play out wide to Sergio Reguilón and continued his run into the box. Reguilón picked out Kane with the cross, who nodded it across the six-yard box for Bale to finish.

That set the stage for the goal of the game — and perhaps the season — which arrived less than three minutes later. Spurs advanced forward through Son and Bale, and the Welshman played it out wide to Matt Doherty, who played it back inside to Kane.

Relaxing into a first-time effort from distance, Kane unleashed a dipping, swerving contortionist of a shot that bent inside the far corner. This is a preposterously difficult achievement.

We reached the final scoreline of 4-1 in the 76th minute after Érik Lamela chipped one over the top to Son, who unselfishly squared for Kane to finish.

The win takes Tottenham up to sixth in the table, just two points behind fourth-place Chelsea. Crystal Palace is in 13th, eight points above the relegation zone.
