David Beckham Is A Better Person Than You

David Beckham is a legend of the game, who has played for some of the best clubs in the world and has won almost everything there is to win. Yet his actions off the pitch have almost eclipsed his football career. Here are five reasons why he should be ordained as Saint Beckham.

5. He donated all his PSG wages to charity.

When Saint Beckham signed a short-term contract with the Parisian giants, he included a clause that gave all his wages to local charities for children, an idea that his wife, Victoria Beckham, originally brought up. Not just some of it. All of it. He wanted to play, he didn't need the money, and he wanted to help unfortunate children. That's around $5 million, by the way, no small chunk of change.

4. He surprised a former footballer's family with a $100,000 check.

As part of the show "Knock Knock Live," Beckham surprised a family with free phones and a $100,000 check. The father of the family had once been a professional footballer in Mexico, but quit to support his family by working construction. Beckham showed up at their door and clearly changed their lives in an emotional scene. Beckham also played a pickup game with them to boot.

3. Saint Beckham helps a stranded motorist

When Paul Long's car became stranded on the A10 roundabout, he thought he was screwed. But then, in the distance, a hooded figure appeared from a car.

"He pulled the hood down and as he got nearer to the car, I realized it was David Beckham." said Long.

Together with another good samaritan, they managed to push the car out of the dangerous roundabout. Accounts vary, but some say that a rainbow appeared, and Saint Beckham ascended into a blinding light in the sky.

2. Saint Beckham brings hot drinks to cold paramedic.

Cycle paramedic Catherine Maynard was responding to a call of an old man who had fallen, when a man, who looked suspiciously like David Beckham, walked by, said hello and got in his car. Minutes later, he reappeared with a selection of hot teas and coffees for the pair.

"It was awful cycling around in the cold today and I couldn't believe it when he came back with some hot drinks," Maynard told the BBC. "I was so chuffed."

Because of this, the hashtag #buyitlikebeckham has started trending, prompting people into random acts of kindness.

1. Saint Beckham, the Unicef ambassador.

Becks has been a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador since 2005. He's been to Sierra Leone to raise awareness for childhood mortality, and to South Africa to see the struggles of children living with AIDS and HIV.

He has spoken with Prime Minister David Cameron to call for more action on childhood malnutrition, visited the Phillipines to help raise money in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, and launched the "Children in Danger" campaign to help protect children across the world who face violence, disease, famine and disaster.

We're not sure if we can get Saint Beckham actually canonized by the church, but we are going to prove that he performs miracles. We'll just leave these right here.
