Former Eintracht Frankfurt fullback Guillermo Varela has proven that you don't need to be an Ohio State football player to get in trouble for unauthorized tattoos. Varela, who spent this season on loan at Frankfurt from Mancheser United, has had his loan deal terminated because of a tattoo.
Apparently Varela got a tattoo against the club's wishes, and the tattoo then became inflamed and ruled him out for the DfB Pokal final on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt ended the loan and any chance of a permanent deal because of the tattoo.
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic commented in a statement on the club's website:
"His behaviour was reckless and hurts the team. Guillermo's path at Eintracht ends here. The club can't put up with a player acting against the coach's and doctors' instructions.
"We were already considering extending his loan. But that's naturally no longer an issue. Guillermo will be suspended with immediate effect."
Sometimes footballers can behave just like rowdy, rebellious teenagers. Don't get that tattoo, Guillermo. We're sure this is just a phase. You'll regret it when you're older.
