After Chelsea move fell through Tyler Adams is nearing a transfer to EPL side Bournemouth

Here we are again. United States men’s national team captain Tyler Adams is on the precipice of a transfer to a Premier League club. A move to Chelsea fell apart earlier in August, but now he looks set to join Bournemouth.

Tyler Adams Bournemouth transfer

The permanent transfer for Adams is being priced at around $29 million which would be one of the most expensive signings in Bournemouth's history.

USMNT fans were hoping to see Adams join a top club in Europe, however it seems he will be fighting relegation again in the 2023-24 campaign.

The Chelsea transfer didn’t work out after the Blues made the massive signing of Brighton midfielder Moisés Caicedo for a fee of $146 million. The club then went on to sign another defensive midfielder, Romeo Lavia, for $74 million.

There simply wasn’t any room for Adams at Chelsea.

Bournemouth will be his likely destination.

Is this a good move for Adams?

At this point USMNT fans just want Adams out of Leeds United. The club has lost several players during the transfer window, and we really don’t want to see the USMNT defensive midfielder stuck in the EFL Championship.

Getting a move to a Premier League club has been the priority. Bournemouth fits that description, but it won’t be easy for Adams.

Bournemouth were just about everyone’s favorites for relegation last season, however the Cherries managed to just avoid the drop by five points.

The perennial EPL underdogs conceded 71 goals last season which was third worst in the league. Adams will have his work cut out for him.

It was rumored/hoped that Adams could potentially fill the defensive midfield role for Brighton who lost Caicedo or potentially go to Liverpool who were also interested in the Ecuadorian.

Bournemouth have a new manager this season with Andoni Iraola being appointed over the summer. This could be good news for Adams. A new manager that is fresh with the players might not have any favorites from last season’s squad that staved off relegation.

Iraola was asked about Adams potentially joining the team and the Spanish manager had positive words for the American.

Adams is recovering from a severe hamstring injury that required surgery. He suffered the injury in March and hasn’t played in a game for club or country since. It’s unclear if he’s 100% healthy.
