The women’s soccer world was robbed of Becky Sauerbrunn’s first USWNT goal by INCHES

Veteran United States women’s national team center back Becky Sauerbrunn was celebrated in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, on Tuesday at CITYPARK ahead of the USWNT’s friendly vs. Ireland for reaching 200 international appearances.

She reached the 200-mark last year during the SheBelieves Cup but was honored for reaching the milestone in front of family and a massive home crowd. Tuesday's friendly was her 216th cap for the USWNT.

Frida Maanum scores insane goal in upper-90 to help send Arsenal to Champions League semis

Arsenal defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium Wednesday to win 2-1 on aggregate in the Women’s Champions League quarterfinal.

The Gunners overcame a 1-0 first-leg deficit to reach the UWCL semifinals for the first time since 2013.

An out of this world goal from Norwegian midfielder Frida Maanum in the 19th minute sparked the comeback. 

Arsenal put together a quick succession of passes after regaining possession outside of Bayern’s box to set up Maanum. The 23-year-old took the shot first time and placed it into the top corner like an arrow.

Mapi León's 25-yard missile fires Barcelona into Champions League semifinals

Barcelona vs. Roma was the biggest mismatch of the Women's Champions League quarterfinals on paper, and so it proved over two legs as Barça stormed to a 6-1 aggregate victory over the Italian side.

After winning 1-0 in Rome last week, Barcelona scored five at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night through Fridolina Rolfö's brace and further goals from Mapi León, Asisat Oshoala and Patri Guijarro. 

Italy international Annamaria Serturini was able to score one for La Lupa in Catalonia. 

Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas returns to Barça training after long-term knee injury

Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas completed part of the training session with her Barcelona women's teammates on Monday as she continues to recover from a knee injury.

The Spain midfielder injured her knee in July before the women's European Championship.

"I'm glad to move on to the next phase of rehabilitation. I'm happy to be back training with the team," Putellas said on Monday. "It's a matter of patience, of continuing to work progressively with the team and getting back into shape."

Mille Gejl opens new NWSL season with 30-yard game-winning goal for N.C. Courage

The 11th season of the National Women’s Soccer League kicked off on Saturday with the N.C. Courage hosting and defeating the Kansas City Current 1-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Danish international Mille Gejl scored the game’s lone goal with a strike from way outside the box in the 23rd minute.

Before you play this video just be sure that your volume is down. There were some extremely apparent issues with the microphones being used by broadcasters JP Dellacamera and Lianne Sanderson.

NWSL players in disbelief over how bad some of their FIFA 23 characters look

The National Women’s Soccer League getting added to EA Sports’ FIFA video game series felt too good to be true. The long overdue addition of the American league to the game took place on March 15. 

It’s been a week since the update and players aren’t thrilled about how poorly they look in the game. Several players have taken to Twitter to show off just how bad the animations turned out.

The issues range from some player appearing much whiter in the game than in real life to being bald. Yikes EA.

Alyssa Thompson’s first Angel City goal was a fantastic solo-run 5 minutes into her debut

Alyssa Thompson made history in January when she was the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NWSL draft and the first player ever drafted out of high school. The 18-year-old phenom has already appeared for the USWNT and played her first game for Angel City on Wednesday night.

Angel City defeated Club América 3-0 at BMO Stadium in a club friendly. Thompson was given her first start and immediately made an impact just five minutes into the game.

Hope restored in France after manager Corinne Diacre is finally fired

PARIS - France women's national soccer team coach Corinne Diacre has been sacked on the recommendation of the Executive Committee, the French soccer federation (FFF) said on Thursday.

Former France captain Wendie Renard said last month she would not play at this year's World Cup and French multimedia outlet RMC Sport reported that Renard said she would not represent the national side as long as Diacre is in charge.

Women's World Cup field set as trailblazing Panama become final team to qualify

Panama became the final team to book their ticket for the upcoming Women's World Cup after they defeated Paraguay 1-0 in the final qualifying playoff at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton on Thursday.

Panama, who will play at the World Cup for the first time, will be in Group F with France, Jamaica and Brazil.
