Sydney Leroux was instantly ready to clap back at the Netherlands after their World Cup exit

Dutch forward Lineth Beerensteyn says she wasn’t a fan of USWNT’s ‘big mouths’

Netherlands forward Lineth Beerensteyn didn’t hold back when she was asked about the United States women’s national team being eliminated from the 2023 Women’s World Cup in the Round of 16.

The U.S. women’s defeat to Sweden on Sunday was the earliest exit from a World Cup in the team’s history.

Beerensteyn, who was out with an ankle injury when the USWNT and Dutch played each other in the group stage, was elated with the Americans being eliminated.

SYDNEY - Manuela Vanegas headed a stoppage-time winner to give Colombia a 2-1 upset victory over Germany just when the twice world champions thought they had saved a point in a thrilling Women's World Cup clash on Sunday.

Ireland’s Katie McCabe scores goal of the World Cup candidate with stunning Olimpico

The Republic of Ireland's Women’s World Cup journey is all but over as a 2-1 defeat to Canada on Wednesday eliminated the Irish from the competition.

The 2023 edition of the tournament was the first time Ireland had qualified. Despite losing the first two games, The Girls in Green still got admirable results. A 1-0 loss to hosts Australia and a 2-1 defeat to the 2020 Olympic gold medalists Canada is nothing to be ashamed of.

Ireland’s big World Cup moment has to be the Katie McCabe goal vs Canada. The Irish opened Wednesday’s game with a stunning goal from their captain.

The U.S. women's national team is in a position to win a record third straight World Cup because every player who steps on the field is expected to meet the high standards of their predecessors.

Sophia Smith is the latest example of a potential legend in the making, following in the footsteps of players such as Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach and current teammate Alex Morgan.

First woman to manage pro English men's team replaced after two weeks

Forest Green Rovers coach Hannah Dingley's spell as the first woman to manage a men's professional football team in England will come to an end this week after the fourth-tier club appointed David Horseman as their new head coach.

Dingley, who has a UEFA pro licence, was appointed as caretaker head coach earlier this month following Duncan Ferguson's exit. She was also the only woman to manage a club academy in the English men's league.

Sophia Smith haunts her opponents in horror-themed Nike World Cup commercial

Nike went all out on their latest commercial featuring United States women’s national team star Sophia Smith.

Released on Saturday, the 60-second commercial features an unnamed defender being haunted by Smith ahead of the 2023 World Cup.

The ad is a nod to the 2022 film “Smile” which I had to look up when writing this article and boy was that a little too spooky for me.

Thankfully Nike’s ad is a little more family friendly but will still be fear-inducing for defenders going up against Smith in Australia and New Zealand.

United States forward Trinity Rodman expects the defending Women's World Cup champions to be "ruthless" at this year's tournament and is confident they can win a third straight title despite the absence of several key players due to injuries.

Captain Becky Sauerbrunn, this year's leading scorer Mallory Swanson and midfielders Catarina Macario and Sam Mewis have all been ruled out of the global soccer showpiece, which kicks off on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

It's been almost a year since two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas went down with an ACL injury that cost her a place at last summer's European Championship and almost the entire 2022-23 club season with Barcelona.

Her last appearance for Spain was actually July 2, 2022, when she received her 100th cap and scored her 27th goal in a friendly against Italy.
