Watch: Folarin Balogun bags both assists in Monaco’s 2-1 victory vs. Rennes

United States men’s national team and AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun turned provider on Saturday as he assisted both of his side’s goals in a 2-1 Ligue 1 victory vs. Rennes.

Balogun entered the match with just one goal contribution in his last six games for Monaco and needed a solid performance. Monaco signed Balogun for roughly $43 million this summer.

The 22-year-old USMNT star delivered on Saturday this time with his passing rather than goal scoring.

Balogun assists vs Rennes

In the 51st minute he provided the final ball to Vanderson who scored the game’s opening goal.

His second assist came courtesy of a great move from Youssouf Fofana in the 85th minute, but hey, all assists count the same.

Rennes scored a consolation penalty goal in the 90th minute as Balogun’s side held on for the victory. The American recorded three shots in a game that will be remembered more for his assists.

The result from Saturday now gives him three assists on the season along with his four goals.

Monaco sit second in the Ligue 1 table behind Paris Saint-Germain.
