CONFIRMED — USMNT to face off against Colombia in preparation friendly for Copa America

We have ourselves our first Copa America trial-run and it’s on the East Coast.

USMNT to face Colombia ahead of Copa America debut

It was announced on Tuesday that the USMNT have sealed a friendly match against Colombia ahead of their debut in their highly-anticipated hosting of the Copa América this summer.

As a means of preparation for the tournament, the U.S. will clash against the South American side on June 8, just 12 days before their first group stage match against Jamaica. The friendly will be played at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Colombia, who are currently one of the best in-form countries in all of CONMEBOL, are yet to lose a game in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After six games, the Cafetaleros, lead by Liverpool's star player Luis Díaz, stand third in the standings with an undefeated record of three wins and three draws. They have beat Brazil and pushed Uruguay to a draw along the way.

Colombia could also become the USMNT's rival in the quarterfinal stage of the Copa America. If the USMNT tops their group and Colombia finish second (or vice-versa) both would run their June 8th clash back for a spot in the tournament's semifinal.

This international friendly will also serve as a great ‘mimick’ clash for the USMNT and their most anticipated group stage match against Uruguay to close out Group C — a nation that has established themselves as one of the most talented and dangerous in all of CONMEBOL.
