Two USMNT Players Injured This Saturday — Please Stay Away Injury Bug

A litany of Americans played on Saturday across Europe, however not everyone finished the day healthy. The latest USMNT injury update saw two Americans miss game time.

USMNT Injury Update

Saturday Injuries: Antonee Robinson & Jordan Pefok

Antonee Robinson

  • Position: Left Back
  • Injury: Right Ankle
  • Severity: TBD

Arguably one of the most important players in the USMNT’s starting XI went down on Saturday. Robinson suffered a non-contact injury early in the first half during Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.

Robinson attempted a cross when his ankle rolled. He tried to continue but was taken out in the 29th minute.

We’ll have to wait to hear how serious the injury is. Robinson is the go-to left back for the USMNT and has been solid with Fulham in the Premier League this season.

The depth at left back for the USMNT is one of the worst on the team. Robinson has always been the lock for the position and a replacement is unclear. The other options would be for Sergiño Dest to switch sides or have a player like George Bello or Sam Vines come in.

The U.S. can NOT lose Robinson. Time will tell if ‘Jedi’ will be able to play in the two upcoming international friendlies vs. Japan and Saudi Arabia on Sept. 23 and 27.

Jordan Pefok

  • Position: Striker
  • Injury: Muscle Injury
  • Severity: TBD (rumored to be not serious)

Pefok must have been disappointed to miss out on playing against Bayern Munich on Saturday. The American striker is off to a flying start to the Bundesliga season with his new club Union Berlin.

Pefok wasn’t listed for Union Berlin’s squad on Saturday due to a muscle injury. There wasn’t any specification on what muscle was injured.

The 26-year-old has three goals and two assists through five games for Union Berlin across all competitions. American and Union fans will hope he returns soon. It’s rumored the muscle injury isn’t too serious.
