The Spanish Call Of Rafa Marquez's Goal Will Give You Chills

Mexico and Uruguay were tied 1-1 in a hard-fought Copa America group stage game Wednesday when 37-year-old Mexico captain Rafa Marquez put his stamp on the match and removed all doubt as to the merits of putting an old creaky person in the starting lineup of a major international match.

Marquez, who once partnered Carles Puyol on Barcelona's back line, was upfield for a Mexico corner when he received a pass near the corner of the six-yard box and hammered the winning goal into the net. This is not the sort of behavior we expected from Marquez.

Really, it's not the sort of thing anyone expected from El Tri's captain, and the Univision announcer's excitement at the goal shows that.

A goal like that deserves, if nothing else, a really long "goooooooooollllllllll!!!!!!" call from the announcer, who delivered.

The only reason we can think of for someone watching that video and not getting goosebumps is if he or she happens to be a Uruguay fan (and even then they will probably have goosebumps, but for a different reason).

Mexico added a late insurance goal via Hector Herrera's head, but the damage had already been done by Marquez, and Mexico's performance Sunday will surely elevate them to a spot among the tournament's favorites.
