Will Grigg shot to global prominence last year on the back of a fan chant turned dance remix that entered the top 10 of the UK Charts. He also scored 25 goals in 40 matches for English League One side Wigan Athletic — firing them to promotion into the Championship.
He was a global sensation during Euro 2016 thanks to the ‘Will Grigg’s on Fire’ chant, failing to make an appearance at the tournament with Northern Ireland but still receiving 37 votes in the vote for the top five players across Europe.
He came in joint-25th in that poll for the UEFA Best Player of the Year, tied with Paul Pogba and Georgio Chiellini — the best part being that no one seemed to mind.
Now plying his striking talents in the second tier of English football, Grigg has picked up right where he left off: he’s on fire.
