PSG's Undefeated Streak In Ligue 1 Just Came To An Unceremonious End

Paris Saint Germain's attempt to pull an Arsenal "Invincibles" season was put to sleep by a determined Olympique Lyonnais side on Sunday. The Paris club were without the creative flair of Angel Di Maria and Marco Verratti and it showed, as they only managed six shots all day. The PSG defeat sees an unbeaten run of 36 league games come to an end, a run that goes back to March 2015.

Lyon were well worth it though. They consistently hassled and pressed PSG, not allowing them to play their passing game at all. PSG looked frustrated and apathetic for most of the game, and if it wasn't for goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, the scoreline could have been a lot worse.

Maxwel Cornet opened up the scoring in the 13th minute, taking advantage of some rather slack defending by PSG.

The shock of conceding awoke PSG briefly, but they were soon put back to bed by one of the goals of the season by Sergi Darder.

Lyon continued to press high with lots of energy and the game became somewhat testy, as the tackles flew in and PSG grew more frustrated. Lucas tapped in a goal in the 51st minute, but it would serve as nothing more than a consolation for a disappointing performance in the PSG defeat.

Don't feel bad for PSG though. They're still 23 points above second placed Monaco. Who can blame them for phoning it in once in a while? Meanwhile, Lyon move to third in pursuit of Champions League participation.
