Mexico Tied Germany In The Best Game Of The Olympics So Far

Mexico and Germany got the Olympics off to a hot start with a 2-2 draw that made for a game that was both well-played and exciting.

One of Mexico's over-23 players, Oribe Peralta, opened the scoring.

Peralta was an over-23 player on Mexico's 2012 gold medal-winning side, so this comes as no surprise.

Serge Gnabry, part of Arsenal's unholy legion of attacking midfielders, equalized for Germany.

Mexico re-tool the lead through a Rodolfo Pizarro hustle play. (special credit goes to Marco Buena for getting that header anywhere near the goal)

But the Germans are the Germans and they rarely lose games. Matthias Ginter equalized from a corner kick.

We hope we get to watch these two teams meet sometime in the medal round. Would be fun.
