Celtic’s Kieran Tierney Unleashes A Thunderbolt In The Scottish League Cup

Kieran Tierney has done everything for Celtic. The 20-year-old signed with his boyhood club as an adolescent and worked his way up through the youth development program. During that time, he served as a ballboy at Celtic Park, in Glasgow’s East End.

Over the past three-plus seasons, Tierney has forced his way into the Hoops’ starting XI at left back. And now, he’s added to his growing legend with a performance for the ages during Celtic’s League Cup knockout fixture against Kilmarnock.

Tierney captained Celtic for the match, replacing the suspended Scott Brown and becoming the youngest player in the modern era to wear the armband for the team. Plus, he scored on a lovely, long-distance strike in the second half.

Tierney’s success is no surprise to followers of Scottish football. Only 20, he’s already a top left back, and he’s earned his way into the Scottish national team and drawn the attention of some of England’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, it’s hard to imagine him leaving Glasgow. He clearly loves Celtic, and the club’s supporters have made the feeling reciprocal, frequently singing his name from the terraces.
