Jhon Durán’s incredible daily commute in Saudi Arabia called out as 'fake news' by Al-Nassr

Jhon Durán, Al-Nassr’s latest signing, was quick to make social headlines after making the move to the Saudi Pro League, with the former Aston Villa forward said to be travelling hundreds of miles every day... just to train.

Jhon Duran commute travel rumor with Al-Nassr: Saudi League club calls out fake news

According to reports, the Colombian forward had opted to live in Bahrain, despite his club base being in Riyadh, over 300 miles away. This decision was reportedly motivated by Saudi Arabia’s laws, which discourage unmarried couples from living together, meaning he would not be able to live with his current girlfriend.

Durán’s 'new routine' would have seen him traveling up to 300 miles, forced to travel around a five-hour daily commute in car due to the geographical and border complexities between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

To attend training sessions at Al-Nassr, which are based at the club’s training center in Riyadh, it was said that Durán would take a flight that lasted about 90 minutes each way, essentially turning his commute into a daily cross-border journey.

However, Al Nassr did not take long to denounce the rumor, confirming that their new striker is happily living near the club and the stadium.

Durán signed with Al Nassr after the Saudi Pro League club paid a whopping $77 million to Aston Villa, offering the young Colombian striker a contract worth over $20 million a year.
