Harry Kane Keeps Premier League Title Race Alive With A 30-Yard Bomb

From a neutral’s perspective, thank God for Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker scored his 18th and 19th goals of the campaign to keep a bit of pressure on Chelsea before their match against West Ham on Monday. Tottenham defeated Everton 3-2 on Sunday in a match featuring the Premier League’s leading scorers, Kane and Romelu Lukaku.

Both strikers scored, but Kane now leads the race for the EPL’s Golden Boot after his brace secured the three points for Spurs. Kane’s opening goal in the 20th minute was the pick of the bunch. The striker controlled the ball while shielding off a defender, drifted towards the middle of the pitch as Everton defenders eased off of him, the danger seemingly avoided since he was now 30 yards from goal.

That was the only invitation Kane needed to rifle one into the back of the net.

Kane added his second in the 56th minute to put Spurs up 2-0. Everton attempted to buildup from the back, lost possession in their own third and Kane punished them for it.

Special mention should go to Lukaku whose goal in the 83rd minute made him Everton’s all time leader in Premier League goals.

But the match was over when Dele Alli restored Tottenham’s two-goal advantage in the 92nd minute.

Chelsea’s lead at the top has been cut to seven points, although they still maintain a game in hand.
