It's Not A Dream: Jenni Hermoso Makes Shocking Move To Liga MX Femenil And Joins Pachuca

Mexican side Pachuca just pulled off one of the most significant movements in the summer transfer window — and undoubtedly the biggest ever in the history of Liga MX Femenil — after announcing Spanish superstar Jenni Hermoso as its new signing.

With a contract ready to expire on June 30, Barcelona's all-time top scorer rumors were trending hot. The speculation about her future included returning to her beloved Atlético de Madrid, going to Real Madrid and even PSG. However, in the last couple of weeks, versions speaking of Liga MX started to gain strength.

Tigres and América were both linked with Hermoso, but in the end, Pachuca took the world by surprise.

Hours before the announcement, Hermoso spoke about her future without revealing her destination.

"It's true; I have offers from Spain and outside of Spain," she said. "What is coming now is very beautiful, I will be in a place where people will value me a lot, and that warms my heart. I'm very happy."

And before the night fell over Mexican skies, the mystery was over. Pachuca released a video on its social platforms showing several blindfolded fans trying to guess who was the team's new star. All behind a campaign name #ElFutbolEsHermoso.

Yes, some people mentioned Lionel Messi, but who can blame them, considering Hermoso's impressive resume. FYI: seven LaLiga titles, one Champions League, five Pichichis, being the all-time top scorer not only in Barcelona but also in the Spanish national team, and being the second-best player in the 2021 Ballon d'Or, among other accolades.

Just, wow!

The deal, reportedly, is for one year and will make Hermoso the best-paid player in Liga MX Femenil. Today the top earner is Club America's striker Katty Martínez with a salary close to $90,000 per year. According to rumors, Hermoso will surpass that number by getting $125,000 per year plus sponsorships.

Hermoso's arrival date to Pachuca is not clear yet. But you can imagine it will be soon, considering Hermoso will miss the 2022 Women's Euro due to a knee injury.

Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2022 starts on July 8.
