Now Messi Has One More Burger Than Cristiano Ronaldo

The comparisons between Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are a never-ending story. And everything they do could be considered a valid category for a head-to-head between them. For example, CR7 has more goals and kids than Messi, while Messi has more Ballon d'Ors and a more expensive car collection than Cristiano.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, it is exhausting but at the same time impossible to stop. And just this week, we learned about a new entry to keep feeding the rivalry: Messi now has one more burger than Cristiano Ronaldo.

If you are counting, that's a 1-0 on the scoreboard.

The first official burger named in honor of the PSG star is an idea cooked up in the kitchen of the famous chain restaurant and tourist trap Hard Rock Cafe. Obviously, with Messi's consent and their joint campaign Live Greatness.

I probably know what you are thinking at this point. That Cristiano would never use his name to promote fast food. That we all saw what he did at the Euro 2020 with a bottle of Coke. Touché. But also, you should never forget that Cristiano's early years in soccer, far from his mom's comfort recipes, were fueled by a McDonald's worker who fed him ... burgers and fries.

So I don't see Ronaldo pooh-poohing the idea of having a burger with his name outright.

Maybe a vegan option? Maybe a portobello, a perfect portmanteau for Portuguese, and how bello he thinks he is.

The Messi Burger

But enough of Ronaldo and back to Messi.

How can you convey his greatness in a burger? Hard Rock Cafe thinks the perfect recipe needs 10 (of course) special ingredients. Write it down: a "juicy double stack of the finest beef patties," provolone cheese, sliced chorizo, caramelized red onion, Hard Rock's signature spicy sauce, shredded romaine lettuce, vine-ripened tomato and toasted brioche. Everything for $11.95.

Yes, I know, those are eight ingredients. And that's because there are also two optional elements. You can add a fried egg for an additional $2 and/or seasoned fries for $3.95.

(Side note: What kind of demon charges extra for fries? And let's not even start with those who throw potato chips on the plate, pretending they are the same).

Today, you can only have the Messi Burger in the Hard Rock Cafe restaurants located in Florida, one of the Covid capitals in the United States. Starting on March 1, however, the burger will be available worldwide.
