Podcast will feature World Cup stars talking about racism, LGBTQ rights and gun violence

As part of their coverage around the World Cup, Telemundo – in collaboration with LX News – will present a special podcast focused on prominent soccer stars that are trying to change the world by speaking out about different social topics, including gun violence, racism and LGBTQ rights. 

Telemundo podcast Mi Mundialista Favorito

The new podcast is called Mi Mundialista Favorito / My New Favorite Futbolista and is a bilingual show hosted by former Colombian international Juan Pablo Ángel and Eric Álvarez.

The series will have eight episodes and among the guests are Mexican defender Julián Araujo, American players Paul Arriola, Chris Richards, DeAndre Yedlin, and Spanish international Ferran Torres. 

"These world-class athletes, ready to take the biggest stage in sports, are also very passionate out of the field," said Ángel promoting the show. "It's really an honor to show them not only as players but also as charismatic people dedicated to doing the right things, giving back to society and making a difference."

The eight episodes are going to drop starting on Nov. 1 on different platforms, including Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Podcasts, TuneIn and iHeart. The version on video will also be available on LX News, TeleXitos and the 24/7 streaming channels on NBC.

Episode 1 (Nov. 1): Luchando por los trabajadores campesinos

Guest: Julián Araujo (México & LA Galaxy)

Araujo comes from a family of farm workers and is now using his voice to improve workers' lives through better policies in the industry.

Episode 2 (Nov. 3):  F–k Cáncer 

Guest: Paul Arriola (Estados Unidos & FC Dallas)

The American international shares what he learned after two challenging years of his life.

Episode 3 (Nov. 8):  ¡Para de ser racista!

Guest: Chris Richards (Estados Unidos & Crystal Palace)

The defender, born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, is fighting to stop racism in soccer and beyond. 

Episode 4 (Nov. 10): Educando a los niños olvidados del fútbol

Guest: José Cifuentes (Ecuador & LAFC)

Many players around the world have to choose between soccer and studies early in life. The Ecuadorian wants to make sure future generations of players don't have to do that by providing the tools to finish their education. 

Episode 5 (Nov. 15): Por qué lucho por las madres solteras

Guest: Mark-Anthony Kaye (Canadá & Toronto FC)

Inspired by the story of his life, the Canadian international supports organizations helping single moms to raise their kids successfully. 

Episode 6 (Nov. 17): Acabando con la homofobia en el fútbol

Guest: DeAndre Yedlin (Estados Unidos & Inter Miami CF)

Yedlin is an ally in the LGBTQ rights movement and is helping to make soccer a more inclusive sport. 

Episode 7 (Nov. 21): Aprueben una reforma de armas, ahora

Guest: The USMNT

The episode will focus on the USMNT's attempt to convince Congress to do something about the public health crisis related to gun violence. 

Episode 8 (Nov. 22) – Rescatando a los perros callejeros

Guest: Ferrán Torres (Spain & Barcelona)

Torres loves dogs and wants people to stop abandoning them in the streets. He is also encouraging society to adopt stray puppies because it is a really good thing to do.
