Our Lovely Fútbol Is Back — Here Are Our Apertura 2022 Liga MX Predictions

A new dawn is on the horizon. Necaxa and Toluca will be in charge of kickstarting a new season of Mexican soccer on Friday. Of course, the Apertura 2022 will bring new hopes, new faces and many other new things. And to celebrate it, here we come with our new and unique round of Liga MX predictions.

Atlas has won the last two tournaments and wants to grab a historic third title in a row, but if we follow the FiveThirtyEight forecast, that's not going to happen. The famous website put Monterrey at the top of its projections with a 21 percent chance of winning the crown, followed by Tigres (18%), América (15%) and Pachuca and Cruz Azul (both 9%). Atlas is eighth with a mere five percent chance.

How does Atlas fare in The18 book of predictions? Not great either. According to our high-tech brain-powered method Club América is the biggest favorite.

But who will be the champion is not the only category we are predicting. For the Apertura 2022, we are also forecasting who will be the biggest disappointment, the biggest surprise, the top scorer, the best signing and the first coach to be fired.

Liga MX is a manager burner. Last semester nine of the 18 coaches who started the tournament were fired before the end of the regular season. And two more followed their steps when the league was over.

So yes, the question is appropriate.
