Chelsea Overcomes Defensive Blunders Against Man City To All But Clinch WSL Title

Chelsea all but clinched the FA Women’s Super League crown by holding off Manchester City for a 2-2 draw on Wednesday. Sam Kerr scored and drew a penalty converted by Pernille Harder as the Blues maintained their two-point margin atop the league with two games to play — despite two costly mistakes at the back.

Tobin Heath Injury Latest: USWNT Forward Ruled Out For Rest Of Season

Tobin Heath’s season at Manchester United is over, manager Casey Stoney confirmed on Friday, a disappointing end after a second Tobin Heath injury for the USWNT winger.

Heath had four goals and two assists in eight matches with United since joining (along with Christen Press) in September. She hasn’t played since Dec. 20, a two-goal performance against Bristol City.

Watch: Arsenal Keeper Pulls Off Unbelievable Triple Save To Preserve Clean Sheet vs. Spurs

Arsenal, for all its history, had never before won four straight in league play without conceding a goal. With 15 league titles, 14 FA Women’s Cups and a Champions League, but never four consecutive shutout wins in the FA WSL. Manuela Zinsberger made sure it finally happened.

10 Women’s Footballers Who Are Way Better Than Their Soccer-Playing Partners

As much as we at The18 love women’s soccer, it’s a sad fact that the men’s game receives far more attention, whether it’s from FIFA, other media companies, potential sponsors or the fans themselves. (We could spend hours debating why this is the case, but that’s for another story.) Despite this, there are still a large number of women’s footballers who are far more famous than their partners, who are themselves professional soccer players.

Man United Women Will Finally Get To Play At Old Trafford

Manchester United Women will play at Old Trafford for the first time when they host West Ham United in the Women's Super League (WSL) next week, the club said on Tuesday.

Casey Stoney's side, who usually play their home games at Leigh Sports Village, are due to host West Ham on March 27.

Sam Mewis Brace Helps Manchester City To 4-0 Win Over Birmingham City

Midfielder Samantha Mewis scored twice as Manchester City thrashed Birmingham City 4-0 on Sunday to win their seventh FA Women's Super League game in a row and close the gap to leaders Chelsea to two points with seven games remaining.

American Mewis netted either side of halftime to give her side a 2-0 lead before Lauren Hemp and Caroline Weir both scored to complete the rout.

Caroline Weir’s Humiliating Chip Dashes Man Utd’s Title Hopes

Manchester United has arguably been the biggest surprise in women’s football this season. Casey Stoney’s side, with new signings Tobin Heath and Christen Press, surged to the top of the table in just its second season in the Women’s Super League. It looked like the Red Devils could actually challenge the established elites — Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal — for the league crown.

Those hopes were dashed on Friday as Man City humbled United 3-0 in a one-sided Manchester Derby, capped off by a stunning chip shot from Caroline Weir.
