The FA Cup will not have replays for the 2020-21 season to help ease fixture congestion caused by the COVID-19 crisis, England's Football Association (FA) said on Thursday.

Next season's competition is scheduled to begin on Sept. 1 — only a month after the 2020 final — with the showpiece match at Wembley set to take place on May 15, 2021.

The FA Community Shield is an annual match in England at Wembley Stadium between the previous season's Premier League champion and the holder of the FA Cup. All proceeds from the game are donated to community charities and initiatives around the country.  

Liverpool will receive a record 175 million pounds ($228.45 million) payout for winning the Premier League after all 20 clubs in England's top-flight agreed to postpone any reductions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Times.

The newspaper reported on Wednesday that teams will receive their entire payout for last season and rebates to broadcasters, which could amount to 330 million pounds ($430.49 million), would be spread out over future campaigns.

On paper, Manchester United was the heavy favorite in its Europa League quarterfinal tie against FC Copenhagen on Monday. The Red Devils' attack included big names like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, as well as teenage sensation Mason Greenwood.

Yet for 90-plus minutes, United was held at bay by a 30-year-old Swedish goalkeeper named Karl-Johan Johnsson. 

Despite having one of the best left-backs in the world in Andy Robertson, Liverpool was not afraid to add more fullback talent through the transfer market. After completing his medical, Greek left-back Konstantinos "Kostas" Tsimikas was announced as Liverpool's newest signing Monday afternoon.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho left with his team for a pre-season training camp in Switzerland on Monday with the German club saying the talented player would stay after a contract extension to 2023.

Sancho has been the target of several top clubs with ongoing speculation of a possible transfer to the English Premier League.

"We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions," Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc told reporters in Switzerland.

Manchester City has signed United States' World Cup-winning midfielder Sam Mewis from National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) side North Carolina Courage, the English club said on Monday.

The 27-year-old, who helped the U.S. national team capture the World Cup in France last year, is Women's Super League (WSL) side City's second signing of the transfer window following the arrival of Chloe Kelly from Everton.

After a combined 12 seasons with Chelsea, both Wilian and Pedro are saying goodbye to the Blues.
