This was more the type of weekend we've come to expect from La Liga. Barcelona destroyed Real Betis 5-0 behind two goals apiece from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Real Madrid similarly rolled over Deportivo la Coruna, 7-1, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale each rediscovering their goalscoring form with two apiece.
Luis Suarez scored twice and Messi and Paulinho each added a goal as Barcelona overcame a 2-0 deficit to Real Sociedad early Sunday to maintain their unbeaten run in La Liga. On the day when Manchester City saw their quest for invincibility ended by Liverpool, it looked for a bit like Barcelona might follow suit.
