Timo Werner Is Now Wanted For Double Murder After Two Merciless Strikes

Sat, 17 Oct 2020 - 09:06

Timo Werner is a one-man wrecking crew right now. Southampton fans are probably wondering if he can be tried for murder after he destroyed the Saints defense with two rampaging goals in the first half on Saturday.

It was only a matter of time before Timo Werner went off in the Premier League. Thus far frustrated in four EPL matches, the Germany international finally broke through with two of the most spectacular goals we’ve seen this season.

LIVERPOOL, England — Champion Liverpool was frustrated by VAR as it was held to a 2-2 Premier League derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday after a late effort from Jordan Henderson was ruled out.

Why Jordan Pickford’s Awful Challenge On Virgil Van Dijk Wasn’t A Red Card

Sat, 17 Oct 2020 - 07:28

Liverpool started Saturday’s Merseyside Derby with a the verve, power and intensity of being the best team in the world and wanting to make damn sure it was the best team in its own city. The Reds took a lead inside four minutes and looked like they could score half a dozen before halftime. Then came the Virgil van Dijk injury, which completely shifted the direction of the match and, possibly, Liverpool’s season. But should it have been a red card on Everton keeper Jordan Pickford?

José Mourinho Thinks He Knows Why Arsène Wenger Didn’t Mention Him In New Autobiography

Fri, 16 Oct 2020 - 09:35

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho believes there could be only one reason why long-term rival Arsene Wenger missed out on mentioning him in his new book.

"Because he never beat me," Mourinho told reporters on Friday.

Wenger's autobiography — "My Life in Red and White" — looks back over his 22 years in charge of Arsenal between 1996-2018 but there was no mention of his touchline duels with Mourinho, whose Chelsea side dethroned the Frenchman's Invincibles in 2004-05.

Bayern 17-Year-Old Made Fifth-Tier Opponent Look Like, Well, Amateurs

Thu, 15 Oct 2020 - 15:42

Bayern Munich opened the defense of its DFB Pokal crown on Thursday against FC Düren. For those keeping track at home, Düren is in Germany’s fifth tier, so the final score of 3-0 Bayern wasn’t unexpected, but honestly slightly flattered the title holders.

Bayern’s win wasn’t really ever in doubt, but Düren held its own — the players can go home proud of the fact they fared better against the European champions than Barcelona.

Meet The Longest-Serving Manager In English Football

Thu, 15 Oct 2020 - 14:22

An opulent spa town in North Yorkshire might not be the leading location for an up-and-coming football club, but one League Two side is set to dissuade those beliefs.

Nicknamed the Sulphurites for the town's healing sulfur springs, Harrogate Town will be playing in the Football League this season for the first time in its 106-year history. And the man responsible for this transformation also happens to be the longest-serving manager in English football.

FPL Week 5 Picks and Predictions

Thu, 15 Oct 2020 - 10:04

I don't care how sophisticated of a model you have, nothing could've predicted some of the events that unfolded in Week 4 of the Premier League. And honestly that's a big part of what makes sports, and soccer in particular, so much fun. A huge part of the game is due to luck and random chance — two things any statistical or machine learning model (or human gut feelings for that matter) can never account for.
