It's time to talk about Djaniny Tavarez. The Santos Laguna winger is absolutely tearing the Clausura apart with 10 goals in just eight games. For reference, Miguel Almiron led the Apertura in scoring with 14 goals in 17 matches. The second-placed scorer so far, Carlos Gonzalez, has six goals.
Seven matches into the 14-game Liga MX Femenil Clausura season, Monterrey find themselves top of the table and in good position to qualify for the playoffs after rolling off their fifth straight win on Monday, a 2-0 away victory over Tigres.
The opening goal was scored by Daniela Lizbeth Solís in the 9th minute, and Valeria Valdez added the second in the 41st with this sweetly struck effort from 25 yards out.
Valdez is a 24-year-old native of Baja California, and the defender scored the goal of match week seven with this effort.
Landon Donovan came in as a second-half sub for Club León on Tuesday night as the American continued his second comeback from retirement. He played about 30 minutes for the Liga MX side in a 4-1 win over second-tier Cafetaleros in Copa MX action. It was his second appearance in 10 León matches since announcing his return to football in January, which begs the question: Is he still getting back to match fitness or was his signing purely a publicity stunt?

Landon Donovan made his Liga MX debut Saturday in Leon's 2-1 victory over Puebla, so we can now say definitively and without a doubt that this whole thing isn't a joke.
Donovan looked rusty, which is to be expected from a man who last played in a competitive soccer game in 2016.
Club America vs. Morelia will be a game to remember for Miguel Herrera and fans of Las Águilas.
On Tuesday night, Club América hosted Monarcas Morelia at Estadio Azteca.
With a super-busy schedule drawing near, Miguel 'Piojo' Herrera will need to move his players around in order to give them rest.
In approximately month and a half, 'Las Aguilas' will play a total of 11 games including Liga MX and CONCACAF Champions League fixtures.

Do you miss Landon Donovan? We bet you do. Be sad no more, then, because Donovan is returning to the United States in March to play a friendly for Club León against his old club, the San Jose Earthquakes. This is a good opportunity for both clubs to open themselves up to new potential fan markets.
